The CARDIAC (Coronary Artery Risk Detection in Appalachian Communities) Project is a statewide program developed in 1998 to provide in-school health screenings to all 5th graders in WV, provide interventions that will lead to increased knowledge and healthy behaviors among children, and conduct related research. After a brief overview of 9 years of health screening findings, this session will focus on 6 statewide interventions designed to increase healthy behaviors in children and youth. Interventions discussed will include NEW You after school programs, Camp NEW You @ WVU, Games for Health, two eLearning 4 Kids instructional modules, and Active Academics website. |
