Gym M.O.V.E.S.: Connecting Physical activities to health and social skills |
The primary objective of educators, including physical education teachers is to help young people experience success. Traditionally, success in physical education has meant improved physical fitness, greater skills and improved social competencies. One approach, simply called M.O.V.E.S allows K-12 PE teachers to integrate quality PE, health and social skill building using asset development theory. This connection helps students develop positive values that lead to success inside and outside the gym. During this session, participants will learn fun, easy to implement games that connect the M.O.V.E.S. philosophy to daily lessons and activities. |
Speakers: Tommy Fleming, Consultant TEA /Harcourt Publishing, Loudon, TN; and Lisa Bunting, Schmalz Elementary, Houston, TX |
