Adventure Education in PETE: A Tale of Two Cities
This presentation will discuss strategies to train pre-service physical education teachers to become competent and skillful in appropriately sequencing activities, effectively facilitating the activities, and processing the activity. The discussion will highlight two courses required for all teacher candidates at The Ohio State University and Wright State University. These courses aim to provide the student with the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to implement an adventure education unit within their Elementary or Secondary student teaching and beyond. The final part of the presentation will offer recommendations from the trenches to improve the preparation of pre-service teachers in Adventure Education.
