The Career Pathways of Chief Athletic Administrators
Much discussion has been on the career path and the position of the athletic director. Literature expounds on gender differences, preparation and training, and under-representation of women and minorities in the role of athletic director with a dominance of male athletic directors as well as the gaps. The purpose of this study is to explore the career pathways of becoming a chief athletic administrator of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Divisions I, II, & III institutions based on gender and race/ethnicity.
