Stress, Cortisol and Obesity – Making the Connection |
The goals of this presentation are a) to provide participants in the health education, physical education, and fitness professions with key research findings published in the professional literature associated with stress, cortisol, and obesity, and b) to provide strategies to use in addressing barriers that may exist with clients seeking assistance in weight loss and stress management. Participants will meet the following objectives: a) understand the dynamics of the stress-obesity relationship through published research findings; b) develop techniques to evaluate client stress levels and to address related treatment barriers; and c) learn principles and methods of effective stress management. |
