Symposium: Physical Education Teaching Efficacy - A Multiuniversity Study of Preservice Teachers |
Teacher efficacy has been identified as among the most important teacher characteristics ever studied, and 20 years of research indicates it is a powerful variable affecting teaching and learning. However, teacher efficacy research has been criticized for treating the construct as a global disposition; recent efforts focus on teaching efficacy for specific content areas and tasks. In this symposium, we present an overview of teaching efficacy, an instrument for assessing teaching efficacy in physical education based on NASPE standards, and examine differences in preservice teachers’ physical education teaching efficacy at different program levels. |
