Student versus Teacher Profiling in the School Environment
In the era of the Virginia Tech tragedy, there has been rising interest in school violence. Male and female students specifically in high school and higher education physical activity classes have been subjected to being profiled by peers and teachers and therefore ostracized for his or her individual differences. This presentation will review research on psychological basis for profiling, the effect of profiling and the impact of profiling in the school environment. Specific areas of profiling behavior that will be identified include: appearance, gender, sexual orientation, academic potential, disability, SES, chronic illness/diseases, and racial/ethnic profiling.
