Using New York State’s Assessments for Personal and Social Responsibility |
When personal and social responsibility were identified as important parts of our state standards for physical education, assessments were designed to provide evidence that students learn behaviors and concepts related to responsibility in physical activity settings. Using the CD ROM, “New York State Physical Education Profile”, participants will see how two types of assessments are conceptualized and administered, and how teachers can use these assessments within traditional and non-traditional physical education programs. The session may help teachers, administrators and teacher educators with practical assessment and teaching ideas for this popular but controversial physical education content area. |
Speakers: Sarah Doolittle, Adelphi University, Garden City, NY; Robert Goldberg, MLC Staff Development, Lake Luzerne, NY; and Tom Fay, St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY |
