Time magazine (July 2003) reported that nearly 30 million people use meditation as a formal practice of relaxation. Meditation is now recommended by the American Heart Association as a means to prevent heart disease. The National Health Education Standard 7 states students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors and avoid or reduce health risks.
