Promoting Music and Dance Literacy with Children
This activity based session will assist elementary classroom teachers and physical education specialists in finding ways to develop Arts Literacy in children, specifically, enhancing their musical listening skills and creative dance potential. Using a popular children's classic, Carnival of the Animals (Aquarium) by Saint- Saens, participants will learn how to read (interpret) the music and design accompanying creative dances using listening and dance "maps".
