Modern Dance Class: Use of Somatic Principles
This technique class uses the fundamentals of modern dance with somatic principles. These combined methods of contraction/release, over/under curve, pelvic rolling, breath, alignment and core movement patterns benefit participants in technique by improving their training and quality of movement. Participants become more aware through body and mind on new ways of teaching, learning and performing movement. Methodologies of time, space, energy and flow are incorporated into a somatic release to pursue a sense of “natural rhythms” such as variations of breath and its relation to dynamic quality while moving.
