Integrating Motor Learning Concepts into Physical Education
Teaching children to understand the motor learning process, including what kind of practice facilitates learning, which skills transfer positively, etc. is important for the promotion of learning through a lifetime (Rink, 2003). Practitioners need to teach students to independently apply motor learning concepts when learning new skills. During this session, participants will engage in a series of hands-on activities showing them how to modify and sequence tasks to teach developmentally appropriate motor learning concepts. A focus will be placed on the process of integrating concepts and assessment of student understanding.
Speakers: Paul Rukavina, Adelphi University, Garden City, NY; and Jennifer Jeansonne, Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond, LA
