Building a Meaningful, Skillful, Active Lifestyle through Educational Gymnastics |
Through lecture/discussion and activity, participants will be provided with practice-based guidelines to implement student centered, inclusive body management/educational gymnastics lessons, which harness and extend children’s natural desire for physical activity. Lesson vignettes will highlight an “educational’” approach to body management and gymnastics from K through 12, as well as in a teacher preparation program, that meets NASPE Standards and connects these skills to a physically active lifestyle. Assessments aligned with NASPE Standards will be modeled through development of Individual, partner, and group sequences designed for sharing/informing. |
