The Image of Future PE Majors – Cultivating, Mentoring, & Assessing
NASPE/NCATE standards require that teacher education programs assess physical education majors’ dispositions. This is one indicator of the type of individuals that become our teachers, but what other traits and characteristics make up the image of our teachers? This workshop will explore the image of our physical education students, whether it has or needs to change, and how we as PETE teachers envision, define, and effectively assess the traits and characteristics that our students possess. Presentations of the topic will be provided along with a forum for discussion which may help the participants explore their own concepts and preconceived ideas.
