Body Issues and the Female Athlete: Learning from Experience |
This session will focus on providing practical advice to help coaches, teachers and parents understand the seemingly conflicting information that exists about nutrition, body composition and performance in female athletes. Common misunderstandings associated with the role of body fat levels, weight and eating habits on performance will be addressed. Using real life anecdotes from college, elite and Olympic level athletes, combined with sound theoretical knowledge, the presenters will help the coaches of amateur athletes to understand that obsession over specific regimented eating behaviors and/or specific body fat levels may be counterproductive. |
