Learning Strategies Implementing Nutrition Education into the Physical Education Classroom |
The nation’s concern for childhood obesity has moved to an important new front—the schools. A Local Wellness Policy was mandated and identified two needs to be addressed—physical activity and nutrition education. The physical educator is in a perfect position to a child’s knowledge, fitness levels, attitudes, and habits as they relate to wellness; thus, decreasing the incidence of childhood obesity and increasing academic performance. This presentation will offer physical educators learning strategies that implement nutrition education into their existing physical activity curriculum—keeping both concepts within the same curriculum. |
