Universal Design for Health Educators – Process and Goal
Universal Design principles have been used widely to make buildings and homes more accessible to persons with disabilities. Now health educators can use Universal Design for instruction to plan strategies, interventions, and programs in a way that is inclusive. Universal Design becomes a process as well as a goal. All health educators can improve outcomes for clients, students, and patients by applying UD. This session will explain UD, give examples of strategies, suggest ways to problem solve, and identify resources applied to health education/promotion. Participants will be given an opportunity to explore applications for their work settings.
