Teaching Self-Defense to Adolescent Females in Secondary Physical Education
Self-defense instruction has quickly gained popularity within the physical education curriculum due to recent world events. This session will provide attendees with the knowledge necessary to implement a self-defense unit of instruction for adolescent female participants. Developmentally appropriate practices, pedagogical strategies, and “tips from the trenches” will provide attendees with a unique psychomotoric, cognitive, and affective perspective regarding self-defense instruction. Hands-on demonstrations and curriculum will be distributed.
