Bone Health and Exercise for Athletes of All Ages
This session will examine the importance of exercise for maintaining optimum bone health for active women of all ages. Peak bone mass and genetic factors appear to be major predictors for rate of bone loss after menopause. This session will address strengthening bone for young athletes and maintaining healthy bone mass throughout the life cycle. Topics such as diet and hormone replacement therapy will be discussed. Because of the controversies surrounding hormone replacement therapy, a major focus of the program will be on one of the healthiest alternatives –– exercise!
