Coaches’ Psychological Strategies of Preparing Athletes to Achieve Peak Performance
Many athletes may have great physical and technical talents, but lack of psychological control prevents athletes from reaching their full athletic potentials. In fact, coaches’ own behaviors and verbal instructions commonly affect athletes’ psychological welling beings without knowing it. The purposes of this presentation are: (1) coaches’ common misbehaviors toward athletes before competition, (2) what coaches should and should not say or do to athletes before and during competition and (3) coaches’ strategies of helping athletes to set up the pre-competitive psychological routines.
