Mindful Learning, Mind Maps and National Standards
Mindfulness, an approach to learning that emphasizes consideration of various perspectives and openness to new information is an ideal antidote for disengaged students, who operate on automatic pilot. Following an interactive overview of mindfulness, participants will explore mind mapping as a method for students to use for note taking and in planning projects, papers and lessons, and for instructors to use to plan course material and assess students' knowledge. Examples of class presentations, health education curriculum, assessments and student responses, and discussion of using mind maps to address National Standards in Health and in Physical Education will be included.
