Introducing Spiritual Well-being into the Health Education Curriculum
The wellness paradigm includes the aspect of spiritual wellbeing, but this component of health education is often misunderstood, hence ignored or neglected. Spirituality is not the same thing as religion. Wisdom Keepers from all cultures speak of relationships, values and a meaningful purpose in life as the three pillars of human spirituality. The word health (whole or holy) implies a spiritual component. This presentation highlights way to introduce this aspect of health through the front door of stress management courses with both content and exercises to engage students from all backgrounds. All health educators would benefit from this content.
