Coordinated Professional Preparation in Adapted Physical Education: The TWU Model |
The purpose of this presentation is to provide professionals and students an off-site visit to Texas Woman’s University (TWU) to experience the APE practica/community-based program. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how preparation and training is coordinated between all levels of students (undergraduate, masters, and doctoral), parents, and district professionals. Students with disabilities from the Denton Independent School District participate in aquatic, gymnasium, and rock climbing programs in our modern facility. The visit will consist of three components: (a) pre-program education, (b) observation and interaction with the practica, and (c) a combined post-program/invitational poster session. |
