Choreography & Folk Dance - Using Folk Dance Movement Patterns to Create New Dances |
To energize your dance unit within the physical education curriculum, students from Taylor Elementary School will demonstrate seven dances created from folk dance patterns (such as Sicilian Tarantella and Latin dances). These old and new movement patterns show a new wave of folk dancing that fit multiple school settings. Changes made from folk dance movements into modern-day patterns will be explained (i.e., grand square slide, reversing a grand right & left, phantom grand right & left). Participants will experience the student learning processes and receive a booklet of the students’ choreography at the conclusion of the workshop. |
