Middle Eastern Dance as Exercise and Art Form
Middle Eastern Dance is a compilation of several ethnic influences. Its roots go back to ancient times when dance was the foundation of every celebration and gathering. Today, Middle Eastern Dance is a low-impact exercise that engages all major muscle groups. It promotes flexibility, balance, strength, endurance and increased range of motion. The basic movements incorporate muscle isolation and control, leading to greater body awareness and improving muscle tone. This workshop will teach several basic movements, the foundations on which the dance is built. These movements can be incorporated into any health and fitness routine, for participants of all ages.
