| Structure | School K-12 | |
| Description | This program examines the ongoing collaboration between university health educators and a rural school system to enhance health, nutrition, and physical activity of students, faculty, and staff. This pilot project is based in Selma, Alabama, which has higher than average childhood obesity and diabetes, low SES, and high rates of stroke and heart disease. The presentation will explore the evolution of the project, from collaboration to coalition building with school superintendents and local lawmakers and gaining “buy-in” from administrators, faculty, staff, students, and caregivers. The intended audience includes those interested in establishing partnerships between community health agencies and school systems. | |
