Commercial Presentation: Gopher Sport: Increasing Classroom and Playground Physical Activity |
The Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 mandates that all school districts with a federally-funded school meals program develop and implement wellness policies that address nutrition and physical activity by the start of the 2006-2007 school year. This presentation briefly discusses benchmarks that identify an Active & Health School. The remainder of the presentation will focus on ways to teach classroom teachers physical activity breaks for students. These breaks are offered on the hour in the classroom. They are easy to teach, require little room, and can be taught indoors or outdoors. Additionally, ideas for increasing student activity on the playground will be shared with participants. A handout that includes activities covered in the session will be shared with participants. |
