Improving Health Instruction for English Language Learners
One of the primary goals in school health education is to assist all students in their progression from dependent learning to independent learning. This is particularly true in diverse mainstream classrooms that contain a few to several English Language Learners (ELL) and other low-literacy students. This presentation will focus on specific strategies that health educators can utilize to help teach ELL students. Teachers will find that many of these strategies and approaches also help enhance the learning of English-speaking students.
