Sharing the Dream of Equitable Physical Education for All Diversities: A Plea for Responsible Pedagogy in PETE
This workshop will examine the profession of teaching physical education in terms of diversity, with a specific focus on the challenge of training future physical education teachers to deal with issues of diversity and social justice. An overview of the research on preparing students for interculturalism in physical education will be provided. This presentation will also provide information on how to promote responsible pedagogy in school learning environments drawing in part from a number of models. Ideas and strategies will be provided to assist faculty in addressing the needs of emergent diversity in educational institutions.
