The profession of physical education is noteworthy for the significant contributions of numerous individuals during its 120 year history. In this session, scholars highlight several of those whose ideas and innovations in the areas of physical education, sport, and health have had wide and long-lasting importance. Amos Alonzo Stagg, Helen Manley, Leona Holbrook, J. H.
