Pedagogy Symposium: Teaching Tactics In Physical Education – Research and Pedagogy |
It is now almost a decade after Rink, French, and Graham (1996) noted that research on tactics was in the “I believe” stage, and more than 40 years since Thorpe and Bunker voiced their frustration with physical education outcomes related to games in the 1960’s. As we enter the 21st century, there is still little empirical evidence to support approaches to the teaching of tactics in physical education. The purpose of this seminar is to reexamine the problem of teaching tactics and to discuss recent research based on this reexamination. These issues will also be addressed by a discussant. |
