Anti-Homophobia Strategies in Teacher Education |
Recently, there has been increased attention focused on creating safe schools for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender youth, but these strategies are often disconnected from what we do in the gym. To date, little has been done within traditional teacher education programs in physical education to provide pre-professional teachers with strategies for working with LGBT issues. This interactive presentation will begin with a 25-minute performance entitled “Wearing the Secret Out.” This will be followed by a discussion of the performance and how this type of performance piece can be used within teacher education programs. |
