Exercise Physiology and Fitness Symposium: Making Sense of Multiple Physical Activity Recommendations
“How much physical activity is enough?” Is it 30, 60, or 90 minutes of daily physical activity? Are there different recommendations for children and adolescents? How many steps are enough? With so many physical activity recommendations and popular devices to measure physical activity, many people are left feeling confused about how much physical activity is enough. The best answer is, "It depends on what you are trying to accomplish." In this symposium, leading researchers will discuss the origin of existing physical activity recommendations, how to interpret these recommendations, and tips for communicating these recommendations to select populations (i.e., youth, adults, obese).
