The Female Athlete Triad: Disordered Eating, Amenorrhea, Osteoporosis
Attendees will gain knowledge regarding the recognition, assessment, and management of the female athlete triad. The female athlete triad is composed of the three interrelated pathologies amenorrhea (lack of a menstrual cycle), disordered eating, and osteoporosis. All three can be devastating by themselves, but when combined with each other, the effects can be life long and even life threatening. This session will also discuss at-risk populations for the female athlete triad and offer assessment and educational resources.
