The Art of Teaching: How Teachers Create Culturally Responsive Curriculum and Meeting Standards: How Teacher Work Samples Link Pre-Service Teachers' Knowledge and Practice |
This two-part session will focus on how teachers create and teach a culturally responsive curriculum, one that reflects being socio-culturally conscious, affirming beliefs about all students and their abilities to learn, holding high student expectations, and teaching from a constructivist perspective. Part two will focus on demonstrating pre-service teacher readiness to teach through Teacher Work Sample Methodology (TWSM). Support for acceptable levels of candidate’s performance under many NASPE standards can be documented using the TWSM. Attendees will have opportunities to discuss the connections, and hear and see how PETE programs deal with both the art and science of teaching. |
