Sociological Issues within Outsourced Marketing in Division I Athletics |
This presentation will examine outsourced marketing companies affiliated with Division I athletic departments. Data will examine the number of females and minorities outsourced companies employ and their positions of sales or non-sales responsibilities. Educators and athletic administrators in higher education can examine if sales and marketing position are predominantly held by white males.
The Host Communications – University of Kentucky outsourced deal will be discussed as a case study in emphasizing higher education and not just athletics. Outsourced marketing companies’ opinion of Title IX and their willingness to package non-revenue sports with the revenue sports in future sponsorships will be discussed. |
