Vigorous Planned Play, Games, and Activities for Early Childhood
NASPE guidelines state, “All children birth to age five should engage in daily physical activity that promotes health-related fitness and movement skills.” Preschool physical educators must be able to address the following three questions: (1) what takes place in the act of physical play that we need to be aware of? (2) what do we need to do to contribute to the important psychomotor, sensory motor, and locomotor skills that the preschooler is in the process of learning through play and various physical activities? and (3)how do vigorous movement activities address the mushrooming problem of early childhood obesity?
