The relationship between the media and sport is considered symbiotic. But many athletic directors, coaches, and athletes view the relationship as anything but mutually beneficial. The goal of this session is to illustrate the value of publicity and relationship building in sport. Specifically, this session is for practitioners who desire suggestions on how to make the sport media work for their athletic programs. Step-by-step outlines will be presented focusing on strategies for securing increased publicity and keys for building better relationships with media counterparts. Other issues covered involve enhancing public relations in sports, interviewing skills, and crisis management. |
