The Low Carb Obsession: Helping Students Deal with Misleading Diet Messages
Low Carb Mania…the latest food obsession! This dietary fad has taken hold of the media and the food industry, so students have a new-found reason to strengthen restrictive dietary behaviors with lots of support from society. What can we do? It is crucial to educate and challenge students about faulty media messages, diet book promises, and food product mislabeling. This presentation highlights some extreme media and food/restaurant messages and provides new techniques for educators, as well as students ready to be empowered, to make healthy changes based on what fuels the body with adequate energy from healthy carbohydrate.
