The Elements of Excellence in Teaching and Coaching
Recent research with America’s best teachers and coaches has identified a consistent pattern of practices and perspectives that forms the bedrock of greatness in sport pedagogy. Among those studied were NASPE Teachers of the Year, America’s greatest golf instructors, internationally acclaimed tennis instructors, major league batting coaches, and NCAA National Champion coaches in football, basketball, gymnastics, and swimming. Specific strategies on how these experts open and close lessons, interact with students, convey information, develop their knowledge base, and continually strengthen their teaching will be presented. This session has applications for teachers, coaches, teacher educators, and scholars.
