Diversity is the Responsibility of Everyone: Model Programs for Creating a Safe and Positive Atmosphere for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Students, Faculty, and Parents in Schools |
As educators in the 21st century, there is a growing need to develop a safe environment regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issues and acceptance. Creating such environments can be challenging for teachers who may not have adequate training in promoting respect for differences and appreciation of diversity in the classroom. A panel of physical educators from model schools will discuss the successful strategies used to institute change. Participants will be provided with a variety of resources to assist with making changes at their institutions. |
