Psychological Constructs that Guide the Development of Sessions in Somatics and Dance Therapy |
This session is designed to explain to choreographers and dancers the motivational techniques that guide the development of dancing and moving from the inside out. A dance movement therapist and a somatic movement therapist will outline psychological constructs that guide the development of dance/movement sessions. Six counseling and psychotherapeutic approaches will be discussed. Three of the theoretical approaches are psychodynamic and humanistic in nature and the other three are more behavioristic and action-oriented. One therapist will describe how to guide questioning and the interpretation of individual meaning while the other therapist will focus on more reality-based and goal oriented approaches. |
