Gender Differences among Athletes and the Effect on Risk of Injury |
In 1972, Title IX was enacted with the purpose of eliminating discrimination based on gender in “any activity receiving Federal aid." Thus, we are witnesses to an ever increasing growth in female participation in sports. However, in spite of obvious benefits, professionals in sports medicine have become aware of differences between genders that must be considered when assessing the risk for injury. |
