Linking Your College Fitness Course in a Learning Community
With budget cuts and a greater emphasis currently being placed on retention, many universities are examining the first year experience with an eye toward graduation rates. One of the strategies that has been shown to produce positive results is the implementation of Learning Communities. Inclusion of fitness/wellness courses in the learning community can provide an exciting, interdisciplinary way to introduce students to the concepts of the course. This presentation will focus on ways the required general education fitness course has been incorporated into Learning Communities at Kennesaw State University. It is appropriate for physical educators, administrators, and future professionals.
