Perspectives on Collegiate Women's Sport Experience |
As intercollegiate sport participation and interest have grown, the administration and governance of women's sport have become more complex. This study details several of the current issues associated with women's sport as identified and perceived by current NCAA DI women athletes. Participants identified several areas of interest and concern specifically associated with their intercollegiate sport experiences. The topics included gender equity, health matters, role of administration (AD, SWA), and perceptions of the NCAA. In addition, athletes were asked to share their perceptions regarding media influence, drugs in sport, coaching, diversity issues, and sport as a career path for women. |
