Dispositions: Inclusion and Assessment in PETE Programs |
The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education promotes standards of professional competence and dispositions. These dispositions include values, commitments, and ethics that influence professional behaviors of teachers. Recommendation forms from schools include items such as cooperation, responsibility, and others which are dispositions. What dispositions are essential to be demonstrated by good teachers? Are they addressed in the curriculum? How are they assessed? Each of these questions will be answered by a panel representing institutions which are assessing dispositions. Each institution will discuss what they are doing, how the assessments are conducted, and any concerns or problems they have encountered. |
