The Importance Cultural Competence for Health Educators |
Cultural competence has been identified as a component in the professional development of health educators. Cultural competence is defined as a process for effectively working within the cultural context of individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. To develop effective health promotion programs, health educators need to understand the complexity of culture and be prepared to be culturally competent professionals in today's changing world. This presentation is designed to help participants increase their level of understanding of cultural competency to the extent that they are aware of the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and behaviors necessary for interacting effectively in a cross-cultural world. |
