Fitness Programs for Older Adults (FPOA): Strength and Flexibility--Guidelines for Physical Activity for Older Adults |
STRENGTH and FLEXIBILITY are two of the most important components of a physical activity program for older adults regardless of age. Functional fitness, fall prevention, and being able to pursue an active lifestyle all require the individual to have optimal strength and flexibility. At the conclusion of this all-day workshop, participants will understand the importance of strength and flexibility components of a fitness program; be able to lead small group strength and flexibility exercise programs using a selection of equipment; and be able to administer basic strength and flexibility assessments for incorporation into a well-rounded exercise program. |
Keyword(s): adult fitness, older adult/aging issues, physical activity
