AAPAR/Fitness & Wellness Council endorsed by Council on Physical Education Teacher Education
Preparing Physical Education Teachers to be Fitness Specialists
This session will discuss the importance of fitness instruction education for those preparing to teach physical education. In addition, the benefits gained from a specific core of coursework designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities will be discussed in detail. Finally, a template for the creation of a fitness specialist certificate program will be provided with examples given based on a university program presently active in this role.
