The Survey Says... Using the Internet for Data Collection
Data collection using various Internet technologies will be discussed as well as the strengths and weaknesses of each method. First, data collection via commercial survey sites will be highlighted. Second, collecting data via in-house web applications will be discussed. This will be followed by a discussion of collecting qualitative data using the Internet. Reliability and validity studies of data collection over the Internet will also be discussed as well as the pros and cons of the various data collection methods. Using the Internet for data collection is an ideal alternative to traditional data collection using paper/pencil surveys.
